My Mission Statement
My mission is to provide a successful and positive first grade learning experience for all of my students and to facilitate their academic, social, and personal growth. I will accomodate all of the unique learning styles within my classroom by using a variety of resources and teaching materials. I want to promote success for each individual student and have them reach their own "personal best" that they can be proud of.
Our Learning Goals
Our first graders are very busy this winter. In Language Arts we are working on Theme 6: Animal Adventures. Visit our language Arts page to read more about it. Please practice the theme six spelling words with your child. Our spelling tests are every Friday! In math we are learning concepts such as, addition and subtraction equations; coins and their values; and place value with tens and ones. In science we are exploring with solids and liquids. We are learning about maps and globes in Social Studies. In writing we are always focusing on our target skills. Some of the target skills we have learned so far are strong verbs, adjectives, nouns, alliteration, and using sound words in our writing. Write a story with your child for fun and illustrate! We would love to share the story in class. I am so proud of all my first grade students and the effort they put forth every day! Thank you to all the families for your continued support in your child's education!
